March Consumer Spending Report
Another Uptick in Consumer Spending – Expectations and Confidence Improve

ChangeWave’s March survey shows U.S. consumer spending continuing to improve – with yet another uptick this month. ChangeWave Research is a service of 451 Research.

The survey of 2,026 U.S. consumers – completed March 18 – shows spending up in several categories, led by household repairs, travel/vacation and restaurants. In a further positive, we’re seeing improved consumer expectations and confidence following the slide last month.

Even though concerns are still rising over higher energy costs, and the tough wintry weather remains a negative, the good news is overall spending is up for a second consecutive month. With spring in the air and a break in the weather assured, the March consumer spending findings are highly encouraging.
